Great Golf begins here at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, celebrating 20 years as a premier resort destination in La Jolla, perched high above the Pacific Ocean in a lavish location. People from all over the world marvel at this unique golf resort offering so many luxurious amenities for the entire family to enjoy! This legendary golf course is the site of the 2021 U.S. Open.
What most people do not know is that Torrey Pines Golf Course is a 36-hole facility owned by the City of San Diego and is a Public Golf Course. The course was originally designed by William F. Bell. The South Course was redesigned in 2001 by Rees Jones in preparation for the 2008 U.S. Open and is now 7,698 yards with a par of 72. The North Course is 7,258 yards in length with a par of 72.
The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a AAA Five Diamond property where guests can take advantage of the near perfect weather while hiking the Torrey Pines State Reserve, golfing on Torrey Pines Golf Course or relaxing at the spa. The Lodge pays tribute to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene and Greene’s famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, California, two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Each hotel room is uniquely decorated with wood furniture, fireplace, high-tech devices with elegant amenities.

Upon your arrival at the grand entrance with stained glass doors & being greeted by kilted-attired doormen, you are immediately immersed in the opulent lobby overlooking the ocean, with it’s wood décor and the scrumptious aroma of burning wood. The halls in the hotel are decorated with original California watercolors, art & scenery. A little known fact, is that the Torrey Pine tree is native to only a small portion of the Southern California coast & the Channel Islands!
There are several dining options, including the Lodge’s signature restaurant, A.R. Valentien, which highlights regional San Diego cuisine served in an elegant, timbered indoor-outdoor dining room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. Executive Chef Kelli Crosson sources only the best local provisions, and the menu changes frequently based on seasonal fare available. The restaurant takes its name from a talented early 20th-century California artist whose works are exhibited throughout the restaurant. Also on property is The Grill at Torrey Pines with panoramic vistas of the neighboring Torrey Pines Golf Course, featuring wood-fired dishes and local craft beers. The restaurant’s outdoor patio entices guests with welcoming fire pits and daily sunsets.
Another dining location is Eddie V’s, just minutes from The Lodge and overlooking the panoramic La Jolla Cove, is famous for their Crab Cakes & daily fresh fish.
After a long day of golf, guests are encouraged to enjoy a relaxing spa treatment to enhance their experience at The Lodge, including the TORREY PINES COBBLE STONE massage…“Enter into a state of pure tranquility as warm basalt stones are strategically placed along the energy centers of the body. The warmth of the stones combined with a customized, full-body Swedish massage will induce a state of deep relaxation.”
